D. S. I. [ Delayed Sequence Intubation ]

Delayed Sequence Intubation (DSI) is an advanced medical technique taught at Ashoka Nursing & Paramedical College to enhance airway management in high-risk patients. This procedure is designed for individuals at risk of complications from rapid sequence intubation (RSI), such as those experiencing severe respiratory distress or altered mental status. DSI involves administering sedation and temporary paralysis, allowing controlled ventilation to stabilize the patient before intubation, thereby minimizing risks like hypoxia, aspiration, and hemodynamic instability.

At Ashoka Nursing & Paramadical College, students are trained to apply DSI effectively in emergency and critical care settings. This technique is essential for managing cases of severe respiratory failure, traumatic injuries, or potential rapid deterioration. Our curriculum emphasizes careful patient monitoring and safety protocols, ensuring that future healthcare professionals are well-prepared to optimize conditions for successful intubation in critical situations.
